Day 11 – Icing on the Cake - Aarron and Renee Franklin Ranch

Ultimate Blog Challenge – Day 11

So what is the best part of this homestead/farm? I get asked this a lot. I’ve been told that it’s too much work and not enough free time, however, that is not the case. Or at least I don’t think so. So what is the best part of what we do? I would have to say the babies!

Of course I would say babies, they are adorable. Who doesn’t like babies? Of course getting to that point is a bit of work, but it’s worth the payoff in the end. It can be frustrating waiting for them too. We have a goat that is still holding hers hostage but is due any day. I can’t wait to see her kids. We generally let the momma’s raise them and just make sure to handle them a lot so they are just as friendly as bottle fed goats. I’ve had great success with this.

On the farm/homestead, the biggest payoff is really everything. Everything we do that brings us closer to self-sufficiency. The animals, the garden, water conservation – it all goes into the final payoff, but I still say the babies are icing on the cake for owning our farm/homestead. They make everything so worth while. To watch them grow and play is so much fun and makes all the work so worth it.
