Greenhouse on a Budget

Staying with the  building on a budget theme for the time being, I would like to show you my green house. We have been using this all winter to keep our veggies growing so that I haven’t had to buy much for vegetables lately.  I will warn you, it doesn’t look like much, but it really does work.

Like I said, it doesn’t look like much, but it does work. We started with a canopy frame that we had here. The canopy died long ago, but we still had all the poles for it. Hubby put that up and wrapped it chicken wire with a shade screen top last summer to start growing some of our food. It has worked really well.

When it started to get colder at night we noticed that some of the plants weren’t doing as well as they could. We had a bunch of old doors and windows laying around that hubby decided to put to work. He put up the windows on the east side of the greenhouse so that we would still get the morning sun.

On the west side, he used the doors. The sun from the west here in Southern Arizona is hot. We didn’t need a lot of heat so the morning sun is best here. He also put a tarp on the top to help hold in the heat from the day.

The inside is fairly roomy. You may notice this planter from one of my reviews. It sits right in the middle of the floor of the greenhouse. Most of what I have planted in has already started to come up so I am really excited about this.

All of what is growing in there for the most part, has been growing since last summer. I am hopeful to get more veggies out of them this year. So a green house is possible without spending a lot of money. Just use what you already have to get it done.

Have a great day!

Renee
