So what do you do when you know you need to build something but have no money in the budget to get what you need? I’ll tell you what you do. You use what you have or what you can barter for. We have done both and they work. They really do.
If you have something that you don’t use any more and know of someone who has what you need, talk to them about a trade. We have gotten pool fencing, pallets, and so many other things this way that it’s usually our go to when we need something. We do the same thing with our neighbors all the time. My husband will get something from someone that he knows the neighbor will need and then our neighbor and my husband will work out a trade for the item. In this way, we get what we need, but the neighbor also gets something that he needs.
The other option is to use what you have. There are so many different things that can be repurposed for something else. We go this stand from my husband’s work, I think he said bumpers were shipped to his shop in them. He added a little more wood and some chicken wire to it and made it a double decker brooder box for our baby chicks. He brought home another not too long ago, that we are going complete for a hay feeder for the goats too.
Like I said, there are so many different things that can be repurposed for other things that you may need, but don’t have the funds for. Most of the time the hubby uses scrapes of wood to finish a pen or whatever it is that he is working on at the time. So just figure out what you need and find something that could be close with just a little modification and then make it work.
Have a great day!
Renee
It is great to be able to repurpose things when you can! We have pretty much cleaned out our house of all scraps and supplies because we never get around to these projects!
